Hilarotragedia is a curatorial project related to artistic ceramics. Superego, a ceramic laboratory in Asti, decided few months ago to open a series of ceramics created by contemporary artists chromatically and ideologically related with corporate production. Edoardo Scagliola, chatting with friends, had the idea to start with important artists on our Italian national contest. So, he offered ovens and workers of the laboratory in Vittorio Veneto to Corrado Bonomi (we already talked about him in this blog), Stefania Ricci (an artist from Ivrea who works with photography), Gianni Cella (who was part of the artistic group known as Plumcake) and some others  like designers and illustrators.

The result? An interesting production, where we can find fundamental statements of the artists’ poetic.

The products have been presented and sold at the luxury fair in Verona. Bonomi, Ricci and Cella will be busy for an exhibition starting the 18th of  November 2008 in the Superego shop located in Via Volta 20, Milano. The exhibition seems a good effort of commercial imput and artistic conceptualization.

There are some points that need to be defined yet, like the price of the ceramics! You could pay 300 Euros for a multiple by Bonomi or a Stefania Ricci’s frame, arriving at 2000 Euros for a Cocco Bello by Bonomi and just 200 Euros for Cella’s masks. Do you think it’s too much? Then, the possibility to reach a good sell out. What about the cultural impact of a project like this?
