Indian kites

In India, kites are a real art expression. In fact, they are used during several religious festivities and lay celebrations too.

Here, thousands of patang –the Indian word for kite- fill the sky with their colours, their movements and “fights” as well. What?

Well, you have to know in Asia there are not just challenges among kites but proper fights. In addition to patang they are also called Indian Fighter kites certainly for this aspect. The purpose of the game is to remain in the sky as long as possible without being knocked down.

But this is not even everything. Actually kites are used to send messages like friendly or romantic messages.

One of the most famous festivals is the Kite Festival in Ahmedabed, during the religious celebration of the Makara Sankranti in January.
